It’s a Girl!

Welcome to the world, baby Anna!

Born after dawn this morning, weighing 8 lb 11 oz, 22 inches long.

Both parents are exhausted, but everyone is doing well. I got to hear her sweet little baby cries over the phone earlier, and was all verklempt. In fact, I’ve had something in my eye off and on all day.

My heart is full.

MONDAY: Edit to add the pic below. Testing to see how much adorable one blog post can contain. My daughter tells me Anna has beautiful blue eyes and she does, in fact, open them occasionally.

  4. Careful now, with very little prompting I’ll become insufferable, sharing baby pics like they’re cat pics or something.

Naw! You get too uppity with your pics and we’ll pull out ours. What a beautiful baby. Be thinking while you rock her the first time, that it is the very first time you’ve rocked her. It’s awe-inspiring. “How could my baby make this precious baby!!!!”

  7. GP, I’ve already been feeling that awe. Every time I’d put my hand on her stomach the past few months and felt the baby move . . . it’s truly miraculous.

  8. Tiny perfection, right down to tiny thumbnails and whisps if eyebrow. It really is a miracle.

  10. Thank you, Reine! I knew it would be exciting and wonderful to have a grandchild, but I wasn’t expecting it to be so . . . I’m at a loss for words to describe it. Feeling connected to the future through a new generation of my blood, maybe. The feeling is immense.

  12. Thanks, Richard! So far, she’s the Most Adorable Baby Ever. Not that I’m biased in her favour or anything.

Good to hear from you again; hope all is well in your world.
